On behalf of your Howe Island Ratepayers Association, welcome to HIRA
As a community association, our mission is to build a community by sharing information, promoting activities and fostering civic involvement, all with a view to the preservation and improvement of the Howe Island quality of life and quality of public services. HIRA supports the orderly and sustainable development of Howe Island in a manner to preserve and enhance the value and lifestyle of the residential, rural and agricultural aspects of Howe Island. HIRA currently represents 115 households on Howe Island, approximately 40 % of the population.
The Howe Island Ratepayers Association is incorporated as a non-profit organization. It is a community association run by volunteers. Some of the community activities HIRA undertakes include an annual pancake breakfast, road side pickup / cleanup campaign, yearly speaker on topics of community interest, monitoring and reporting on Township Council meetings, and maintaining a web site and email membership list. All members receive a HIRA news brief via email outlining information of interest to Howe Islanders at the completion of each Township Council meeting.
As a member of the HIRA Community Association, you would be a vital part of a collective community voice on important issues impacting Howe Island. Through HIRA, our elected representatives are made aware of issues and concerns affecting our membership.
Please consider supporting your community association by signing up using the Membership Form. You will receive periodic emails (about once a month) on Howe Island issues and events.
