ISLAND ROAD-SIDE CLEAN-UP
SATURDAY, APRIL 25,2009
For the 6th year, Howe Island Ward will support PITCH-IN CANADA by cleaning up the roadsides on the Island on Saturday, April 25(Sunday, April 26 will be the back-up in case of severe rain) sponsared by the Township of Frontenac Islands and the Howe Island Ratepayers Associatio (HIRA).
In 2008, over 50 participants did an excellent job in removing large volumes of cans, bottles and assorted debris. Once again, we call for VOLUNTEERS to ” PITCH IN”.
A registration area has been designated at the township office at 9:00am on April 25th to assign sections to the volunteers. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bags and plastic gloves will be provided although we suggest you bring work gloves for added protection. Ditches may be wet, so sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.
If you cannot attend on the 25th, you can request a section of road to be cleaned at your convenience. PLEASE CALL GEOFF HOBBS at 546-5940, to be assigned a section. We ask that all sections be completed by May 2.
ALERT: ALL DRIVERS…drive cautiously on the 25th and be on the lookout for our volunteers. Please advise any friends or contractors who will be visiting to be careful on the roads.
