Please plan to attend to hear the Candidates’ views on the issues affecting Howe Island over the next four years and beyond, such as (a) transportation to and from the Island; (b) roads and emergency services; and (c) future development capacity. A Question and Answer session will follow the Candidates’ opening remarks.
Immediately following the All Candidates Meeting, HIRA will hold its ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING for which all Islanders are welcome to attend. The AGM will present a recap of HIRA initiatives and the election of the 2018-2019 Board of Directors.

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario and the County of Frontenac has advised that the first two night closures of the Frontenac-Howe Islander will occur on Wednesday, 31 October, from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am on Thursday morning, and on Thursday, 1 November, from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am on Friday morning.
These are the first two of a total of 14 closures expected between 29 October and 30 November.

09Dear HIRA Member,
Approximately thirty-five (35) Howe Islanders attended the Open House on July 29. The ‘Open House’ turned into a full-on meeting that was facilitated by Glenn Tunnock, the Township planner. The Mayor and all Councillors were in attendance. Howe Islanders raised their concerns with the Draft Amendment and following the meeting, Mr. Tunnock asked HIRA to respond in time for the Public Meeting on Wolfe Island on August 5.
HIRA had three (3) board members attend the Wolfe Island meeting along with two (2) members and again, Howe Islanders voiced their opinions. It’s of interest to note that unfortunately, the turn-out by Wolfe Islanders wasn’t strong with only three (3) were in attendance…
