A big thank you to Bob Staples, Mary Lynn Shaw, Kent Guthrie, Gilbert Ell & Tyce, Linda Godin, Jim Laitinen, Bruce Burgess, Marilyn McCauley, Paul Beseau, Carol Dwyer, David Jones, Brian Humphrys, Rich Watson, Alexandra Puxty, Stewart & Janet Renfrew, the Hintons (Greg, Allison, Ivy Lyla), Gary Nichol, Laurel Wallace, Norm Vincent, Austin Page and Ginny Botten for getting into the ditches and sprucing up the island.
While many reported less trash than last year, there are areas on the island that seem to collect debris from motorists who finish their mainland food and/or beverage then toss. Beer cans and special cooler bottles continue to be found…consumers must be flush and not need the refund.
The tire round-up was very successful. Thank you to Bruce Burgess and his ‘spare tire mob’ for collecting 216 tires and 30 batteries. These tires and batteries are now at the municipal office and are being taken to Kingston in stages.
Good news from Carol Dwyer. A container is now available each Saturday to accept your electronic waste. For more information on what is being accepted, please contact Carol or see Alex at recycling but to name a few items…computers, keyboards, monitors, televisions, copiers, scanners, typewriters, telephones, cameras, speakers video players.
