Archives for June 2009
Not much in the agenda; however, a couple of items under 17. Other Business…
:the Mayor again raised the trailer by-law issue and again, encouraged council members to support the by-law preventing trailers on Howe Island with proactive enforcement. The Mayor again, stated that tax revenue is being lost but more importantly, if there is a by-law, it’s there for a purpose and must be acted on and it is the responsibility of elected officials to act accordingly (please read previous meeting highlights). More to come following the July meeting.
:Matt raised the issue of removing the brush site on Howe Island Drive and Baseline Road. Pat stated that it needs to be cleaned up and the gate padlocked as the Township dosen’t have a certificate of approval from the province to operate such a site. Norterra Organics will be contacted to clean the debris. Such ‘green’ waste in the future, can be taken to Norterra.
:the $1.027. million from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal funds for the rehabilitation of the Lower Side Road and Howe Island Drive will see most of the money going to a major upgrade of Howe Island Drive east of the church. An engineer will be named by the end of June to begin the process.
