At the June 11th Township Council meeting, Councillors Pat Norris and Wayne Grant were given instructions to list parkland located at the east end of Howe Island for sale.
The lot was donated to the township to be used as parkland as a condition of severances made several years ago at the east end of the island. The move is intended to assist with funding for the new firehall. A portion of 25% of the sale is slated to go to a recreation reserve fund.
This further reduces the amount of island shoreline accessible to other residents and the public.
Wolfe Island councillors and Pat Norris voted in favor with Matt Fiene of Howe Island being the lone disenter.
